When life hands you lemons, turn them into a glass of the best lemonade you’ve ever tasted! This classic recipe is simple, flavorful, and incredibly refreshing. With just a few ingredients and easy steps, you can create a sweet-and-tangy drink that’s perfect for any occasion. Plus, we’ll share tips on how to serve and store it for maximum freshness.
Ingredients for Homemade Lemonade
Making this lemonade is a breeze, and you probably already have everything you need.
Sugar and Water
Start by preparing a simple syrup — essentially sugar dissolved in hot water. This ensures the lemonade is smooth and evenly sweetened, without any sugar settling at the bottom.
Lemon Juice
Freshly squeezed lemons are the ideal choice for a bright, natural flavor. If you don’t have fresh lemons, bottled juice can work in a pinch, though fresh is always best.
Ice
Serve your lemonade chilled over ice for the ultimate refreshment. Add ice right before pouring to prevent diluting the flavor.
Storing Fresh Lemonade
Keep your homemade lemonade refrigerated for up to 5–7 days without ice. If you’re storing it in a pitcher, cover it with plastic wrap or a lid to maintain freshness. Add ice only when ready to serve to keep the lemonade from becoming watered down.
Community Tips
Sandy AZ: “Just the right balance of tart and sweet. On hot days, a few ice cubes mellow it perfectly. I’ll be making this a lot—I have two lemon trees bursting with fruit!”
Melissa: “Served this at a Mother’s Day barbecue. I floated lemon slices and fresh mint leaves in the pitcher—it looked beautiful and tasted amazing.”
PRESTO: “This was my first time making real lemonade, and it turned out fantastic. Definitely using this recipe again!”
Ingredients for 10 Servings
1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
1 cup water
9 medium lemons (or more, depending on size and juiciness)
7 cups cold water
Ice as needed
Directions
Prepare Ingredients
Gather all necessary ingredients.
Make Simple Syrup
In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and 1 cup water. Heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture comes to a gentle boil. Set aside to cool slightly.
Juice the Lemons
Roll the lemons on a countertop to loosen the juice. Slice in half and squeeze the juice into a measuring cup, including the pulp but removing seeds. You should end up with about 1 ½ cups of juice and pulp.
Combine and Chill
Pour 7 cups of cold water into a large pitcher. Stir in the lemon juice and pulp, then add the simple syrup to taste. Mix well, then add ice cubes to chill.
Serve and Enjoy
Pour into glasses and enjoy your sweet, tangy, refreshing homemade lemonade!
Want to make it extra special? Float lemon slices or fresh mint in the pitcher for a decorative and aromatic touch.

The Evolution of Digital Earth: From Al Gore’s Vision to the Next Generation
The concept of a Digital Earth—a comprehensive digital replica of our planet—was popularized by a 1998 speech by Al Gore. This vision catalyzed the creation of first-generation virtual globes, most notably Google Earth. These platforms revolutionized how the public and scientists interact with geographic information by making complex planetary data accessible through a "free, fast, and fun" interface. Unlike traditional Geographic Information Systems (GIS), which require specialized knowledge of map projections and scales, virtual globes utilize intuitive metaphors like "flying" to navigate the world.
